When you make a conscious choice to be happy, no one can take it away from you because no one gave it to you: you gave it to yourself.

Zoe Zentangles!

Eeek what a horrible day - it's grey, cold and wet, very wet!

Thankfully I haven't got to go anywhere, my boy is at home, not well, so I am on sympathetic mum duties!

Today I want to share some Zentangles with you. I recently rediscovered this wonderful form of doodling, after spying some fantastic creations while snooping the WOYWW desks. Anyway I bought a rather inexpensive art journal and started. My first creation was more about learning to 'doodle' in certain ways and creating forms. From then on I embraced this intricate (mine seem to be intricate and complex designs!) creation and went with whatever felt right. My first proper piece was formed around our initials (Z for Zoe & K for Keagan). It was on my desk the other week during WOYWW but now it's framed and on the wall -

I didn't want to keep it in the book I wanted to be able to see it, so I got it framed properly (my dad is an artist so I have a framer at hand!) and now I can see it every day, and I'm proud of it, it took a long time but it's special to me.

Some of my Zentangles will remain in that book, but others felt too creative to leave there. I drew a circular 'Zen-doodle' which I rather liked, so I took it out and cut it in half. I then backed it onto black card before mounting the 2 halves onto 2 cards.

See what you think? -

I kept the card simple - I felt the designs were detailed enough without over embellishing them. I'm really pleased with how they turned out, it's something different and I think these cards are unisex, and form a different style to many of my other creations. I will definitely be doing this more often!

Anyway take care,
Zo xx

Love your Zentangles! My niece does awesome ones and I have tried but I just can't seem to create this work so it flows like this. I really like the card with the design. To me, those are suitable for framing!
Thank you for sharing and inspiring. Maybe I will try again. :)

That is fantastic Zoe! The cards turned out beautifully and why would you not frame such a lovely piece of art?
I actually did my first bit of zentangling last week when I was looking after my niece. Not nearly as nice or detailed as yours, but I can see how it could become addictive!

That's awesome Zoe and so gutsy to cut it up! lol When I went to college in the late 70's, I majored in art. We did zentangles before they were ever named zentangles! They were just called designs. LOL

Now following your blog like I said I would. Well a return for a follow on mine is the only way we will achieve more followers isn't it? Well done on the framed Zentangle and also the card. They are much too nice to be kept in a book. I feel the same with mine, which is why I have started to do creative things with them. Hope you do some more soon - I have lots of things planned for mine

Wow, Zoe, this is amazing.

When I read you were having a go at Zentangle I imagined the stamped images I have seen Barbara Grey do on TV, I did not imagine anything like this. This is incredible and I am so in awe!
