When you make a conscious choice to be happy, no one can take it away from you because no one gave it to you: you gave it to yourself.

WOYWW 179 - I'm here & all's well

Hello everyone, happy Wednesday to you all, or whatever day it happens to be if, like me, you tend to visit fellow Woyww-ers any day following!

Right get on with it Zoe - so desk, erm, not sure I can share it but, hang on - light's are on cos it was dark and I took these pics last night, so I just pushed things here and hid that bit, okay you can look now.......

(If you look closely you might see my new pen storage far right but it might be a bit dark!)

Usual things present - inky things, pens, glue and mucky craft mat. Piece of kitchen towel is hiding my swap I'm making for my fellow Crafty Boots DT members who I'm meeting up with very soon. Super excited about that.

So you see normal signs of a happy crafter.

I suggest you pop over to Chez Julia's Stamping Ground to take on a worldwide tour of desks galore if that's your thing.

On a personal note, I know I've been a rubbish blogger.  I'm finally feeling better after my virus but it really knocked me and I've taken some time out to get myself well enough to continue with my Hydro which I had yesterday.  I'm very sore and tired today, I know I have to rest but it's frustrating. But I am crafting and I even managed to do a Craft Fair on Saturday as some of you know.

I only managed this with the help of Lisa (yes my trusty sidekick who came to the WOYWW crop) who carried all my stuff in and kept an eye on me. Also the ladies in the kitchen who made sure I was supplied with coffee and food (sounds familiar, doesn't it Julia & Jan!). I did rather well and sold many things but physically it was too much leading me to decide I'm not doing any more and am going to concentrate on crafting for me.  Up till now I feel my whole year is focused on this one fair and I then find I've no time for the crafty ideas I want to do for gifts. So tis decided - no more!

Right I've gone on for far too long, I'll be getting told off if I'm not careful.  But I do feel that as this is my 200th post (yes really!!) I am allowed a little leeway!

Ooh look too what I have ordered -

Very moi, don't you think!

So take care & get crafting!

Zo xx

Hi Zo!

I am glad you are feeling better but I know how frustrating it is when a fair makes you so tired - still take care of yourself! You are lucky to have someone look out for you! Like your order - zebra, well animal prints are my style too!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian

Thanks for sharing your desk...there does come a time when you have to say, enough of doing things for others or for fairs etc, it is time to get back to crafting for fun so well done on making that decision. I hope that the hydro works for you and that you start to feel more comfortable. I love the look of your pen holder, what pens are they? Thanks for sharing. Caro #73

Glad you got to the craft fair, but good on you for coming to a decision about not doing any more.. I am sure you will be missed but all of us have to do what is best for ourselves.. Love your new jumper..Just to let you know the owls have hatched and I managed to get a photo of the babies. I have it on my blog. Happy WOYWW Sandy :) #44

Hi there. Glad you are feeling a bit better. Time to craft just for you is very important so if you needed to make the difficult choice to give up the fair I salute you. We need to carve some time otherwise we end up losing the joy of crafting and that's never good.

Good to hear you are recovering from the craft fair, but it would be such a shame if you can't do it again. Love your new top - if it's no good, I could take it off your hands...!! Looking forward to seeing you again soon now and finding out what that swap is you're hiding. Helen, 4

Happy WOYWW. Glad you have got over the virus and been for hydro again. I am trying to rest as much as possible today in preparation for the possible NEC trip tomorrow - good excuse to watch C&C and visit lots of blogs. Must go out and do a bit of shopping after lunch (which is a 11 mile trip each way - we don't do short journeys!) and then extra animal care later, so they can cope without me tomorrow. Don't blame you re. craft fair. Quite often people say I should be making lots of things to sell, but then the fun goes out of it and I don't have enough hours in the day anyway. I do commissions if asked, but that is only occasionally. I prefer to stick to creating for family/friends and challenges/swaps. Thank you for your comment earlier. Keep warm and rested. Oh, that zebra top is fab - it IS really you!! I'm very jealous, lol!!
And even though you're sitting around all day, craft fairs are really tiring. Am glad you sold lots of stuff though :) And I'm glad that you're on the mend again, yay :D

I hate that it gets dark so early. And I totally agree - very much YOU, that zebra print. Wear it to the next WOYWW crop :D

Smart pen storage, Zo! Make sure you look after yourself. And don't write off crafting for others - why don't you look at Etsy/Folksy/any other specialist auction site as a means by which to sell your treasures? Less stress and effor than a full on craft fair!

Thanks for stopping by....

Great you are feeling better! Cheeky covering up your projects :P

Very posh pen storage, Zoe. You look super organised there. Good on you for choosing to craft just for yourself. I think we get too bogged down in other things and forget to just be creative. I've been the same thing and really loved it lately.
I'm glad that you are starting to feel better.
Take care and Happy Crafting,

Oh Zo I can imagine you are really feeling rough this week with the stress of the show and all that entails even if you have the help of friends and loved ones. I had to come to that decision a while back because if I got stressed or over did then my Fibro and Me flared and left me flat for weeks. It was fun and you can say you had fun doing it but... Love the looks of your desk and I would definitely feel right at home there. Don't you love the pen storage and congrats on your Stampin'Up! It is a bit pricey but buy a little a long and it will be with you a long time! Thanks for visitng my blog! Have a great week! Vickie #77

Hi Zo!
Pleased to hear you are recovering from the dreaded virus but I hope you didn't overdo it at the show. Your desk is pristine! Get messing it a bit when you are up to it.
Yes! the sweater is WoW.. a good bit of retail therapy there....
Congrats on your 200th post!

I've always suspected that craft shows were way too much work. You take it easy though, you hear?!?! You don't want to over-do and set yourself back, take it from me the princess of over-doing it. I giggled that you shoved things aside for your photo. You should just leave it lay where it may. That's what it is all about. Happy 200th!

Good decision, well made, Zoe. YOLO. You only live once. Life is just too short not to do only (or as many as possible) things that bring us the most enjoyment!

BTW, I think you have an appalling lack of markers.

Thanks for coming by to see me earlier and I hope you have a wonderful week after the initial recovery from the hydro! Darnell #42

Well I'm glad you're feeling better, but it is easy to overdo, isn't it?

Show us that swap next week?

And oh yes, you will look fabulous in that zebra print!!

Hello and good to hesr that you are recovering. Love the way your pens still not really happy with mine (promarkers) I was chatting today about demands on my time for crafting for others and I am finding cards I make to send to people I know/ and other things I want to try are getting rushed and I need to decide what to do. Take care of yourself. Anne x #91

I hope things continue to improve for you Zoe and that you can get the Hydro treatment again. Sounds like it's a good idea not to do the craft fairs, more time for you and you can relax and de-stress when you need to, so that will help your body too. I can see your pen storage, looks really good. The only good thing about these darker evening that I like is that I get to put my pj's on as soon as I come in from work! I love being comfy, but I'm mortified if the doorbell rings!!!

You have got to go with what makes you happy and comfortable, if it is crafting or knitting when you want to then so be it. You are the person in charge after all, so play and be happy.

I do hope your health continues to improve, these things are sent to try us sometimes. My prayers are with you, take care and happy crafting.

Your desk looks oh so lovely and tidy and your pens...wow! They are amazing!

I used to do 2 fairs a year. I was a single Mum and used the extra $ to fund Xmas presents and summer vacation. I did really well at them and enjoyed it too...but...I was in my late 30's and had more energy then. I made various Christmas themed items, placementa, wreaths table centerpieces, angels etc. All different sizes, all hard to pack up and transport.
Now, I can't imagine all that work. My daughters want to go in one...they wanted me to join them and I agreed. Luckily for me, my back surgery too that off the agenda this year.

Once a year, the RV resort up at the lake has the gates unlocked for the day and townies or tourists can walk through, see what amenities are there, look at open houses and tour the craft rooms, library, etc. Some people have garage sale items and others have crafts. There are a huge group of quilters and they have placemats and runners, purses etc all for sale.
The first year I set up a table and sold 34 cards...I may do that again as Little Miss C has about 40 card made ahead..her goal is to make 100 and then go in the patio sale. So if
I am sitting there all day, I might as well put 100 out as well. teehhe
Totally understand you packing it in.

I find that not as hard, as I throw the big tablecloth over the table and then just have a few matching cloth baskets and I divide the cards up by theme...thank you, Bday, baby, etc. and put one theme in each basket.

Hi there Zo, good to hear from you. Sometimes I'm not sure the work required for stalls etc is worth the effort - and as you say, it always seem to be when you are doing things you 'have' to do you have the most creative ideas forothe stuff!! Loving that top, can just see you in it - if only I was slim enough to carry it off! Hugs Cindy

Wally enjoyed your post today. Doing things when I have to is so diffrent than doing things because I want to. I use to have a dried flower shop. Loved doing it. Yes dried flowers. It was in the early 80's. one time took everything to a shopping mall for a craft sidewalk sale. Sold everything. I was so exhausted, I never opened the doors again...

I Zo, that is lots of work, those craft shows! more than I can do. love your new shirt!

Pleased to see you are feeling better and well enough to craft. I've never been tempted to try selling at a craft fair simply because of what you describe - I think it would become too much to stress about. I much prefer just working on projects for me and mine - less pressure. I hope you continue to feel well and perhaps we'll get a shot of you in that new purchase :) Elizabeth, later than ever, x #75
