When you make a conscious choice to be happy, no one can take it away from you because no one gave it to you: you gave it to yourself.

WOYWW 140 - I'm getting good at this!

Morning!

Well it was an early wake up for me this morning - my son woke me at 4am to say there was something happening the back of our terraced houses. I looked out to see thick smoke, sparks flying and an orange glow. Yes, there was a fire - one of the neighbour's cars 7 doors down was on fire, possibly deliberately caused! Fire men were on the scene quickly, as the fire was threatening to spread through the wooden fences and sheds that surround that area.  Thankfully no one was hurt.  There is a lot of damage, but it's only cars, fences and sheds at the end of the day.

I'm so tired so may be slower in getting around to you all but I promise I will do so!

Okay my desk, it's at the mid project stage, I even resisted the urge to throw away the wipe and dirty kitchen roll to show you I do make a mess...well only a bit! I'm like this anyway, everything has it's place....lol

This is how I left it last night, and so this is what greeted me this morning. My first job after taking the pics though was to throw away the dirty wipe and kitchen roll! My dad is going to be 60 next week so I wanted to create a special card for him. I've already chosen the cottage from the Sheena Douglas stamp range. I had the idea to stamp onto acetate an over laying effect, but I'm not so sure I like it, so I make re-think. I may even be brave and do some masking perhaps putting some flowers from the paint fusion range in the foreground of the cottage.  I'm going to use tones of greys, colouring with my fabulous Spectrum Noirs, then just add a splash of colour. Not decided what yet!

Those of you who have visited me over the last weeks will know about my button collection...well you'll now see I have 3 jars on my desk. Many of you suggested Ikea but my nearest is in Bristol, and I rarely visit the town centre, the only time I go to Bristol is for the football!  My parents are keen chutney and sauce lovers so mum is saving her jars for my buttons. A bit of recycling!

Hope you all enjoy today, I shall be popping by your desks over the next few days. If you are wondering what am I going about pop over to Julia's blog , our fabulous host to see and start nosing for yourself!

Take care. Zo x

Hi, what a super desk today with lots of stamping, I see you have the rock a blocks, I haven't tried these. They fire would be a shock, it's only fences etc but it's upsetting when it happens. Have a great Wednesday, Laura

Not seen those markers before - I have Copics and Pro-markers - so interested to see what you do with your images. Love the steampunk balloon one.
We go down to Bristol every couple of months as my StepD lives there, quite near the Bristol Rovers ground as well (Muller Road), in fact we were there 2 weekends ago and cursing the football because we can never park in front on her house when it is on ha ha.

I love your desk because it's nice and tidy...I can't deal with a messy desk for too long. Buttons in glass jars is a very good idea and it looks nice.

You are so neat and tidy ...beautiful images ...it will be an amazing card. Sorry to hear you continually suffer with pain ...makes me feel I shouldn't complain ...but pain really gets one down and so tired. Take care of yourself.xx

I like a girl who shows it how it is - we all have messy desks occasionally! Boo to the idiots who started the fire, there are such plonkers in the world. You'll be in bed early tonight after such a rude awakening...

First thought Ikea, right next to the stadium, Oh, that would be before Tesco of course. City supporter myself left Somerset back in 1993, but still keep a gentle eye on division position. #77

Well, if you *do* stick with the idea, I'd love to see how it turns out. And there's nothing wrong with being neat. I too struggle with making an "interesting" desk with mess cos I'm so used to order.
Happy WOYWW!

Oh my gosh that is a scary way to wake up! If it is arson, I hope they find out who did it, that is just terrible to do to a person's car!

I like the idea of recycling your mom's jars for the buttons, what a great way to save money and recycle!

I love how organized you are while creating, it must be a much more relaxing work environment!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy WOYWW!

Lovely stamped images! I always tidy up with the idea that I will craft in an organised fashion, as you do, but it never turns out like that! glad your collecting some jars for your buttons, much better to save your money for crafty stash than storage :o) x

Trouble with the overlay is that you have to fix it such an exact position. But don't worry, if you decide against it, your darling Dad won't know and still love the card! Made me smile that you worked so hard to resist throwing away the tissue..are we starting to rub off!!

Hi Zoe,
Thanks for following on my blog. I see from your pictures that you are using copic markers. I just got my first couple this past year. I friend brought them to me in Ukraine. I'm in the states now so I thought I'd pick up a few more. I think they would be perfect for stamping. I do more mixed-media, but planning to play with the stamps more.
Blessings on your day,
Coleen

Such a tidy desk! Huh I wish mine could stay like that! The only messy thing is the baby wipe which you left there on purpose!!!!!??? Oh well some of us are messy some of us are tidy - but that is the fun of WOYWW! I think putting buttons in chutney jars is a great idea - as you say recycling!

You can be forgiven for being a bit bleary eyed after such an eventful night. I hope things have been quieter for you.
You have lots of lovely goodies on your desk there. I recognise those lovely stamps and have had a peek at the finished result, it's stunning card. Your Dad will love it I'm sure. I keep meaning to have a play with the flowers over the scene stamps but there are never enough hours in the day. Maybe I will make that my job for the weekend.
Thank you for your lovely comments. You have a lovely blog. I've had a nosey round and become a follower.

Hi Zo, that was one frightening early morning experience and a bit of a disaster for the car owner too. I always have wet wipes and kitchen roll to hand too - doesn't Stazon make such a mess! Hope you show us the finished card this week! I stamped on acetate too the other day, and i ended up using paint to colour the image - painting from the back side of the acetate...you kind of have to think backwards tho, cos the colour you paint first shows the most. i really like the end result!

Hi Zoe

I had a look at this and a couple of newer posts being as i am so late in the day (week)!

At the side of me - your desk is considerably tidier and more organised, putting me to shame lol... I see you have the rock-a-blocks... these are such a brilliant invention - the best thing I bought to stamp with otherwise I would never be able to get a good crisp image as I can't grip a square acrylic block.
I have only a couple of sets of spectrum noirs, I bought the neutrals - but stopped there because I prefer promarkers.

Thanks for the peek and for coming to look round my desk too.
